Our Summer Day Camp Program provides an opportunity for children and teens with developmental disabilities to experience the benefits of participating in a local, community day camp program. Participants enjoy a six week program packed with swimming, field trips and a variety of special activities designed with the specific support needed for success in this environment. We provide at least a 1:3 staff ratio; individual assessment; on-going evaluation and collaboration with family members, school personnel and other outside professionals.

A spot does not guarantee placement in camp but improves your chances! Please fill out forms completely and attach their immunization records, if your child has a physical coming up please provide last years physical for the time being and we will update upon receiving the new physical. 

North East Day Camp Consists of Four Camp Groups

Groups are formed with consideration of age and ability.

The camps are staffed with nine experienced and competent specialists who are responsible for planning activities for the campers. Our specials include: Art, hobbies, gym, music, aquatics, outdoor education, horticulture and more!

Roadrunners

This program provides a structured play environment and social setting for young children who will benefit from sensory exploration, guided physical activity and cognitive stimulation.

Dragons

This program is for children who possess a high level of independence yet require guidance and support in peer relationships and skill development. Socialization with fellow campers and expression of one’s self are key to building a positive self-image.

Panthers

This program is for children who possess a high level of independence yet continue to benefit from staff guidance and support. This group will be provided with experiences to encourage increased responsibility and leadership, which will prepare them for the transition into our Eagles Group. Opportunities for success and improved self-esteem will be encourage through program participation.

Eagles

This program focuses on the enhancement of self-esteem and personal empowerment. Campers participate in the full range of camp activities adapted to offer maximum challenge and success. Responsibility and leadership are stressed in team building events, community service projects and our Counselor Assistant Program (CAP).

Registration Information

Registration information and our Summer Camp Brochure will be mailed in April. Registration is based on a first come first serve basis. In-district residents are accepted prior to consideration of others.

Transportation

Royal Coach Buses provide transportation to and from central pick-up points. North East staff coordinate transportation routes and schedules with the safety of all participants in mind. You will receive your bus stop information one week prior to the start of camp.

Medications

The North East Camp employs a full-time nurse. Some health issues may prevent us from ensuring your child’s health needs are met. Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s’ health issues with the nurse prior to starting camp and throughout the camp season.

Lunch

Campers should bring a bag lunch and drink. Refrigeration is not available. North East programs are nut free. Peanut butter and other nut products should not be sent to our programs.

Fees

In order to cover the expenses incurred by admissions, event tickets, specialists and entertainers, North East charges a nominal fee. For current fee structure, please discuss directly with one of us.
Payment plan applications are available by calling our office. Requests for assistance must be received by May 1st.

All campers must pay for the full 6-week session. Since we hire staff for the full six weeks, we do not offer any partial payment opportunities.

New Campers must schedule an intake interview with North East staff prior to registering for camp. Intake appointments will take place from March – May.
